Seva in Kazakhstan
New Year is a special time of the year and the group of volunteers in Almaty decided to make a present for the families they support.
A few days before December 31, 2019, the youth invited the families they support and 13 new children from “Growing to be God” classes to have a meal. The new children were part of one family who has adopted 15 children, having five of their own. Now they have 20 children and live as a big friendly family!
During the conversations at the classes, a lot was said about the good heart of their mother. Children were very active and positive and all of them took part in games and quizzes. Another important point about these children is the fact that the older ones took care of the younger ones!
Previous participants from supported families also took part in the “Growing to be God” classes. There were 25-26 children in total who were divided into two groups depending on the language they spoke: Russian and Kazakh.
The lessons, as always, included meditation, divine stories, games and songs and were held with joyfulness. The wise answers of the children surprised the volunteers. Their sincerity, purity, spontaneity enlivened the atmosphere and filled it with warmth and inspiration.
Here are some examples of their answers to the question: “What is the main wealth of man?”
- “The main wealth is his soul”;
- “All wealth is in the heart of a man”;
- “A rich man is a kind, merciful man” and so on.
Moreover, the children quickly learned a song and sang it fervently with movements. The song has such inspiring words:
“Share your Love just a little bit,
Then the sun will light your way.
If we learn how to love,
We will learn how to live.
Share your Love just a little bit”
At the end of the class, rays of light were sent around the globe!
In addition, the youth would like to emphasise the story of one boy with a beautiful name – Bogdan (which means “Given by God”). From the beginning of the class, he helped the teachers, cleaned the area and took care of the kids. In the game “Acquaintance” he remembered everyone’s name. And when everyone was asked the question: “What is love?” Bogdan gave everyone the opportunity to speak before concluding: “You need to love everyone, not just your loved ones and those who do good for you!”
As a present, the volunteers gave Bogdan a pen with the inscription "Love all, Serve all", telling him that it is from India and it is unusual, its owner can only be a person who loves everyone and serves everyone!
At the end of the lesson, children were given gifts for the New Year.
Daily necessities and food were also distributed to the supported families.
Three hours flew by imperceptibly and no one wanted to leave, as always! There was a Presence that enveloped them all in the soft scent of absolute Love. May this and all subsequent meetings serve the good for all!
Seva and “Growing to be God” classes fill the youth with pure and selfless love. It makes them understand what Swami teaches them and it helps them discover pure love. The youth are becoming more like one family and feel unconditional love for these children. After organising a meeting with the families the youth feel more unity among themselves. They learn a lot from the children. They are little sages amongst everyone!
The youth learned to live in the present and enjoy every moment like the children who teach them to be more sincere and pure. They have become more compassionate and selfless. Seeing the smile on the children’s faces makes the youth happy and inspires them more to engage in Seva activities.
