Government Higher Primary School, Dodda Banaswadi, Bangalore gets Reverse Osmosis (RO) Water Purifier through Annapoorna Supported by Micro Focus Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

Annapoorna has regularly been serving nutritious breakfast for the children at the Government Higher Primary School, Dodda Banaswadi in Bangalore since 2015. There has been a need for clean drinking water for the students and staff at the school. One of the possibilities was to install a reverse osmosis (RO) water purifier connected to the water supply point at the school.

Micro Focus started engaging with Annapoorna team to understand the various projects being done since December 2017. As a part of the evaluation and engagement, Jalaja P, Kannan SM and Kalyan Neriyanuri of Micro Focus CSR (corporate social responsibility) team visited the Government Higher Primary School, Dodda Banaswadi during the breakfast programme on January 22, 2018. The headmaster brought up the need for clean drinking water and requested a long term solution that can ensure clean drinking water for students. Annapoorna, as a part of the CSR support proposal to Micro Focus included this as a line item which was later approved by the Micro Focus board and teams.

Thus, an RO water purifier has now been installed at the school by Annapoorna supported by Micro Focus. This will now benefit the 325 children studying in the school. This reverse osmosis water purifier gives out 50 liters of purified water per hour.

Annapoorna is thankful to Micro Focus Company for their generosity in sponsoring this asset. Annapoorna appreciates the entire Micro Focus CSR team and their leadership for making this happen. The Headmaster and the staff have expressed their gratitude for helping them with access to clean drinking water for the students.

Summer Camp for the

Annapoorna Children at Vinayaknagar

Just as the academic session for the Vinayaknagar centre near Mysore Road in Bengaluru wrapped up; Annapoorna, similar to the previous years, grabbed the opportunity to conduct a fun filled yet fruitful three-day summer workshop for the little angels.

The camp constituted a large variety of activities and, needless to say, coupled with a variety of nutritious eatables for the children. Through the three days, the children were trained to sing, enact skits and were also introduced to Kolata (Dandya – traditional folk dance). In addition, value based games, meditation, rangolis (patterns created on the floor) and art were taught. The children also practiced pranayama, Vedam and Bhajans. On the final day prizes were distributed to winners of various competitions, as well as the children who attended breakfast sessions regularly throughout the year; thus bringing a joyful three-day camp to a happy end!
